An Evening with Carolyn Baker

Click the arrow above to listen to this free event, An Evening with Carolyn Baker, Ph.D. Approx. running time: 55 min.

Carolyn Baker, Ph.D., is a former psychotherapist and college professor of history and psychology. She has been researching the state of the planet since 2000 and in 2007 was deeply moved to explore the need for emotional and spiritual preparation for the Long Emergency. In 2009 she published Sacred Demise: Walking The Spiritual Path of Industrial Civilization’s Collapse. Her forthcoming book is Navigating The Coming Chaos: A Toolkit for Inner Transition.

This past spring Carolyn taught an online class for Post Peak Living on “Navigating The Coming Chaos.” It was attended by a New York Times reporter who later wrote an excellent piece on the class.

Carolyn believes that logistical preparation for the collapse of industrial civilization is not in itself adequate to fortify us emotionally and spiritually for a chaotic future. On September 16 André Angelantoni, founder of Post Peak Living, will interview Carolyn and concentrate on the emotional and spiritual preparation she encourages people to do. You will have the opportunity to learn more about:

  • What emotional and spiritual preparation really are
  • What the collapse of industrial civilization requires us to face
  • How this collapse can be viewed as a cultural and spiritual initiation into planetary adulthood
  • The old story that is now failing and the new story that we all must write together
  • Having a place where we can talk about and support each other around our feelings about this period of tremendous transition
  • Relationships in a rapidly change world
  • Creating beauty and constructing the next culture
